Handmade Soap FAQs

What is in Cloudy Soap's handmade bars?
Every bar starts with shea butter and cold-pressed coconut, olive and castor oils, with avocado and apricot kernel oil in select bars. Each bar then adds one feature ingredient: peppermint essential oil, lavender, gardenia and lemon essential oils, finely ground coffee, or activated charcoal. All bars are vegan, with no sulfates, parabens, synthetic fragrance or artificial dyes.

How is Cloudy Soap made?
By hand, using the cold-process method, in small batches of fewer than 50 bars per pour in Richmond, Virginia. Each bar cures for 4–6 weeks before it ships, which gives it a hard, long-lasting bar and a creamy lather.

Which bar should I choose?
Sensitive or dry skin: Petals. An everyday bar for all skin types: Peppermint, our best seller. Oily or combination skin, or no scent at all: Activated Charcoal. Rough or dull-looking skin on the body: Coffee Exfoliating, used 2–3 times a week.

How big is a bar, and how long does it last?
Each bar is approx. 4 oz and $11.99. It lasts 3–4 weeks of daily use for one person when kept on a draining dish so it dries between uses.

How do I use a handmade soap bar?
Lather the bar in your hands or on damp skin, massage gently, and rinse with warm water. Then set it on a draining dish like our Wooden Soap Dish, because a bar left sitting in water softens and wears down much faster.
